Simon Webster is an award winning composer and multi-instrumentalist whose work includes original compositions and film/media scores in a variety of genres, ranging from contemporary classical to experimental electronic. He has a keen interest in the arts and is also a published illustrator.
Born 2 months premature, with a high percentage chance of permanent brain damage, Simon was fortunate to overcome the odds. At an early age he took up the guitar and soon after taught himself the piano and began composing by ear.
As a teenager Simon was influenced by experimental musicians such as Beck and Aphex twin. During these years he formed several bands and developed an interest in music production, experimenting in a variety of styles and techniques.
At university, Simon discovered an enthusiasm for film scores, particularly composers such as Ennio Morricone and Clint Mansell. During his studies, he was asked by fellow students to compose for their short films and a number of successful collaborations ensued.
After graduating, he earned himself placements at companies, specialising in post production, music production and music design. He then worked as a graphic and web designer whilst pursuing his explorations of music production and developing his career as a freelance composer.
Simon is PC /Mac literate and competent in using software packages such as Logic Pro, Pro tools, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Dreamweaver and Flash. He currently composes and performs music for solo, group and media projects.
